Here’s a Mazda 323 sedan, seen in Dongba District in Beijing in May 2016. The good Mazda looked incredibly good and perfectly maintained, like a time capsule from the early 2000s, painted in a light-beige color and still on the factory-original seven-spoke wheels.

Here’s a Beijing BJ80, seen at a car market in the far southwest of the Chinese capital, Beijing. The boxy SUV looked great in Dark Night Black, and it was fitted with the original 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels.

This is a Kia Capital SLX, seen in the far northeast of Beijing in May 2016. The old Kia sedan was in reasonable shape for its years, painted in white with Daewoo-branded wheel covers and early blue Beijing 京A license plates.

This is a Geely Boyue REV SUV-coupe. I saw it earlier this year at a Geely dealer in the far southwest of Beijing. The Boyue REV has a range-extender electric powertrain, good for a maximum range of 1525 kilometers.

Here’s a Denza N8L, seen in front of a Denza experience store in the great city of Xi’an. It was a dealer demo car, perfectly washed and maintained. The color name is poetic: Snow Jade Firefly, and it is fitted with 20-inch wheels with aero wheel covers.

Here’s a classic BMW 525i, seen in the Sanlitun embassy area in Beijing in the winter of 2013. The German sedan was a little dusty, but otherwise in great shape. It also has rare blue 京A license plates.
Here’s a Buick Electra L7, seen at a makeshift parking lot in Beijing on a warm spring day in 2026. The Morning Glow Rice-painted car looked pretty good under the sun, with its aerodynamic design and shiny chrome trim.

This is a W140 Mercedes-Benz S 280, seen in a central Beijing office area in February 2013. The big Mercedes looked absolutely perfect! It was very rare to see a W140 in this condition in China – especially in the winter. The owner clearly took very good care of his S 280.

Here’s a Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, one of the most consequential and influential Chinese cars of this decade. The SU7 banged on the stage in late 2025, featuring a tri-motor powertrain with 1548 hp.
