The Dongfeng Fengshen A9 is one of those large Chinese sedans that nobody has ever heard of, even in China, and that nobody buys. Too bad, because the Fengshen A9 is an interesting car.

Fengshen is a brand under Dongfeng Motors. The Fengshen A9 is based on the same platform, and is largely the same car, as the China-only Citroen C6. The A9 and C6 were a joint development, and are both manufactured by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture.
The interior is very classy, almost forgone-era classy, with loads of beautiful wood and leather. Just look at the steering wheel, wrapped in leather with wood trim on top
The Fengshen A9 is powered by a PSA 1.8 turbo with 204 hp and 280 Nm, mated to a 6-speed automatic. It is a big car: 5066/1858/1470, and wheelbase is 2900.
The Fengshen A9 is also by far the most expensive Dongfeng ever made; price starts at 180.000 and ends at 220.000 yuan.
And that is the car’s biggest problem. Consumers are just not used to spending that much money on a Dongfeng. Their next-most expensive model is the Fengshen L60 sedan, which starts at just 80.000 yuan.
Dongfeng badge. Below that Aeolus, the English translation of the Fengshen brand name.
The license plate if of Hubei Province, and it is a lucky plate; bot 6 and 8 are lucky numbers in Chinese culture.
