A dark red Mitsubishi Eclipse, seen in the far west of the Chinese capital Beijing. The speedy Japanese sportscar was sadly in a rather bad shape and seemingly abandoned. And to make things even worse; some vandal put Ferrari sticker on the poor Eclipse.

The tires are flat and the whole car looks kinda sad, but the body itself look all right. It is likely not too late to save her. Wheels are original.

The first generation 1G Mitsubishi Eclipse was manufactured from 1990 until 1994. The GSR-4 was a high end variant powered by a 2.0 turbo 16 valve petrol engine, good for 200 hp and 275 Nm. Gearbox was a 5-speed manual, sending horses to all wheels.

The interior was a mess, used to store all sorts of stuff. The gear knob and radio are not original. The seats however looked surprisingly well, as if they hadn’t been used a lot.

It is still a beautiful car. Understated and simple, and therefore well armed against the teeth of time. The Eclipse will still be pretty in 2050.

Another Ferrari sticker there. The horror.

Eclipse GSR-4 DOHC 16 Turbo. Now that is a proper badge! The first generation Eclipse was not officially marketed in China, but quite a few examples arrived via the gray market and other misty channels.
