This tasty red cherry is a Gemballa Porsche 964 911 Carrera 2, originally sold to Japan and now in China. The car looked stunning, ultra clean and ultra speedy.

The Porsche 964 911 was made from 1989 until 1994. The famous German tuning company Gemballa offered ‘Turbo-look’ packages for the Carrera 2 and Carrera 4 models. The package came with a body kit that included a giant wing on the back in true 911 Turbo style.

Gemballa didn’t touch the interior, and the owner told me the engine was stock as well. That is not a bad thing; the 3.6 liter flat-six developed 247 hp and 310 Nm. The engine was mated to a five-speed manual or, as in this car, a four-speed automatic.

The wheels are new, but they match very well with the rest of the car.

An original 1990’s Gemballa sticker on the top of the rear window.

On the bottom of the rear window the name of the Japanse Porsche importer Mizwa. This company lost the Porsche import business in 1997, but they are still around, trading second hand Porsches.

Black wheels with a red BBS center, matching the color of the car.

The owner told me it was imported from Japan four years ago Sadly, it cannot be registered for road-use in China. The 964 911 is rare in anyway because it was never officially marketed here.

Not a Turbo, but a Gemballa Carrera 2 Turbo-look.

A real beauty. And there is a beast on the left. We will get back to that car later on…
