A rare Volvo XC Classic, seen in central Beijing. The good SUV was in great shape, painted in brown with darkened windows, standing on sporty six-spoke wheels.

The Volvo XC Classic was a continuation of the Volvo XC90. It was made in China but without much local content, it was basically a CDK operation.
Even the windows were shipped in, from Spain via Sweden to China. That is indeed as expensive as it sounds. And because of all that the XC Classic was far from a cheap car, and therefore sadly very unsuccessful. It was only sold from 2014 until 2016.
There was just engine: the T5 2.5 liter turbocharged five-in-line with 209 hp and 320 Nm. The engine was mated to a five-speed automatic, sending horses to all wheels. There were two trim levels: Deluxe and Executive. Price in 2015 ranged from 548.900 yuan to 638.900 yuan, which was more expensive than many of its imported competitors.
The interior was unchanged.
Still a great looking car. I remember that in 2015, when the new XC90 arrived in China as an import, I started looking at the XC Classic. I was looking for a family car and hoped prices would drop down at the dealer. But they didn’t! They kept selling it for the same price until the very end. Weird.
