A dark blue Saab 9-5, seen on the streets of the Chinese capital Beijing. The Swedish sedan was in a great shape, painted in dark blue and standing on gray five-spoke wheels.

The first generation ‘YS3E’ Saab 9-5 was made from 1997 until 2009. It was facelifted twice during that long run. This car is a post-first facelift example.
The leather is a bit worn but the interior looks otherwise great. Happily everything seems original, down to the stereo system.
The Saab 95 was officially marketed in China but sold only in small numbers. There were just two options: a base model called arc and the super speedy Aero. Our dark blue car is certainly not an Aero, so I guess it has to be an Arc. Price in 2003 ranged from 459.000 yuan to 529.000 yuan.
The Arc was powered by turbocharged 2.3 liter four, good for 185 hp and 280 Nm. The Aero used a high-pressure turbo variant of the same engine, and that one got to 250 hp and 350 Nm. Gearbox was a 5-speed automatic.
The 9-5 badge on the back, as always without the ‘-‘.
