A silver Honda Civic sedan, seen in the far north of Beijing, the capital of China. The good Honda was in need of some work but seemed in fine overall shape.
The Interior was all right, the leather is a bit worn, but the radio is original. And check that giant gear lever!
The seventh generation Honda Civic was made from 2000 until 2005, it came in many forms: coupe, 3-door hatchback, 5-d00r hatchback, and a sedan. Specifications differed a lot depending on the market.
There were many engines too, petrol and diesel. The most common engine was a 1.6 petrol with 132 hp and 158 Nm. Sadly, this silver example had no engine badges so I can’t be sure what lies under the bonnet.
The seventh-generation Honda Civic was officially marketed in China as an import, and it sold only in very small numbers. There was just one model available; a 1.6 mated to a CVT. Price in 2004 was 285.000 yuan.
But the car we have here is likely an ex-U.S. example that arrived in China via diplomatic channels or the gray market. Look at the license plate areas fore and aft. They are too small for the Chinese license plate.
The China-spec models had a normal-sized license plate area and a slightly different grille.
Badges lost some shine.
Note the narrow license plate area behind the plate.
