This is the Lynk & Co 01 SUV in China, it is selling very well here, and will go to Europe in 2020. I had seen the 01 at the Lynk & Co dealer, but this was the first one I met on the road, covered in Beijing’s finest dust.
I have always liked the looks of the 01, with the exception of the front. It looks like a wedding cake; very tall with lots of layers, and too much going on. The lights however are a work of art.
Champagne colored wheels are a nice touch, but the color is a bit too vague, and only comes back in the fake-vent thingy in the front fender.
Lynk & Co is a brand under Geely. The 01 was their first SUV, launched in 2017. The 02 crossover debuted two months ago, and in September the 03 sedan will be added to the lineup. They all stand on the CMA platform that also underpins the Volvo XC40.
When the brand was launched they yelled to all how different they were going to be, but not much of that has materialized yet. Their marketing however continues to be ridiculous.
The interior is nice but a bit too dark for my taste, but is looks neat and it is well-put together. The main screen is angled to the driver and thus hard to use for the passenger.
At this moment there is just one engine available: a 2.0 turbo with 190 hp and 300 Nm, mated to a 6-speed automatic or a 7-speed DCT. Base versions have front-wheel drive, high-end cars four-wheel drive. The long- promised 180 hp 1.5 turbo and the 250 hp PHEV still haven’t been launched.
Price ranges from 158.800 yuan to 220.800 yuan.
Note the neck pillow on the front seat. Many Chinese drivers are still too short for the seats, especially women. That is uncomfortable for the neck and head, so they buy an extra pillow.
The rear is much better than the front, and I like what they did with the D-pillar design.
A beautiful chromed line going over a black one, making for a very cool look.
Rear lights are great lookers as well. Below the light the Chinese name of Lynk & Co: Lingke.
Big black beak is grabbing lots of dirt.
