A very pretty Nissan Maxima sedan, seen at FB City in the Chinese capital Beijing. The good Nissan was in perfect shape, painted in a dark kind of gray, looking almost as good as new.
The third generation Nissan Maxima (J30) was made from 1988 until 1994 with a facelift in 1992. Our Beijing car is an original pre-facelift example.
The Maxima was mainly aimed at the U.S. market where it was marketed as a mid-size “four door sports car”. There is something to say for that; it certainly looks sporty, far more so than its period competitors.
Original mud flaps and wheels.
The interior was in great shape too. Leather just a bit worn, but a good cleanup will easily fix that.
The radio is original! That is a rare thing to see in these old Japanese sedans these days. Most of them have a shiny Chinese aftermarket horror installed.
The Nissan Maxima was powered by a 3.0 liter VG30E 24 valve V6 engine, good for 190 hp and 258 hp. Horses went to the front wheels via a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual, as in this car.
V6 badge on the left. 3.0 badge all the way to the right. This car used to stand inside the FB City building, half hidden in a dark corner where it was hard to photograph. I am very happy they gave it some air.
The 3th generation Nissan Maxima was not officially marketed in China, but some cars made it onto Chinese shores via diplomatic and other misty channels. This example is only the second one I have ever seen in Beijing, after I met a less-pristine example in 798.
Nissan badge atop. And in the light ornament: Nissan MAXIMA. Can’t be any doubt this is a Nissan, or a Maxima.
Beautiful car. Glad they kept is this great.
