A speedy Peugeot RCZ, seen in the northeast of the Chinese capital Beijing. The fast Frenchman was painted in dark red, with a silver black roof.
The Peugeot RCZ was made from 2009 until 2015, with a facelift in 2012. Our car is an original pre-facelift example.
The RCZ was born as a concept car, without any plans for production. But the response was so positive that Peugeot decided to make it real. It was a moderate success with just under 70.000 units sold worldwide.
The RCZ was officially sold in China. Price in 2011 started at 356.800 yuan. There was only one engine available; the 1.6 turbo with 156 hp and 240 Nm. The motor was mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox, sending horses to the front wheels.
The RCZ is a rare car to see on the road in China. Sales were very slow here. Price was highm and Peugeot was not seen as a sportscar brand.
With such a long rear deck it seems to be a coupe-convertible, but it is really just a coupe.
Bubble roof design inspired by Zagato. Two big pipes on the left side. Subtle RCZ badge on the right.
Different for sure. But too odd to be beautiful.
