A very beautiful Peugeot 607, seen at a Peugeot dealer in Beijing, China. The 607 was one of those large french limousines trying to compete with the Germans, and naturellement it failed.
That however does not make the Peugeot 607 a bad car, far from it. The 607 was actually a pretty good car, large, roomy, comfortable to the max, and fully loaded with luxury.
The 607 was made from 1999 until 2010 with a facelift in 2004. Our Beijing car is a post-facelift example. The 607 was the successor of the Peugeot 605.
A very classy interior with loads of leather. Oddly, there is just a single wood panel on the high end of the center stack. The gear knob is of the kinky kind.
The Peugeot 607 was officially sold in China. There was only one engine available: the 3.0 V6 with 207 hp and 285 Nm. The engine was mated to a six-speed automatic, sending horses to the front wheels. Price in China in 2006 started at 470.000 yuan.
That was expensive compared to locally-produced competitors so sales of the 607 were slow. Happily, most cars that I see on the road appear to be in pretty good shape.
Brilliantly designed rear deck.
The 607 badge.
A proud lion on the grille, guarding a great French car.
