A beige brown W201 Mercedes-Benz 190E, seen on a somewhat hidden parking lot in central Beijing. The great old Benz was in a reasonable shape, and was apparently still used as a daily driver. Front light units show that this is a U.S.-spec car.
The W201 was produced from 1982 until 1993. It was never officially sold in China, but some cars arrived via diplomatic and other misty channels. The Mercedes-Benz 190E was powered by a 4-cylinder 2.0 liter M102.962 engine that produced 122hp, good for a 185km/h top speed.
Wheel covers are the period originals.
A pretty 190 E badge, and note the subtle brown line running from the rear, all over the side, to…
… the bonnet, almost touching the grille. It doesn’t look like an after-market thingy. Perhaps this was some sort of special edition? If you know more about this brown-lined Benz, please let me know in the comments.
