An incredible clean Mercedes-Benz CL-class coupe, seen on a parking lot in central Beijing, capital of China. The good Benz was in a superb condition, painted in silver and standing on five-spoke AMG alloys.
The vehicle had V12 Biturbo and C63 badges, but that is odd, because the C63 twin turbo V12 only debuted with the C126 CL. So either the badges are fake, or somebody did a crazy engine swap.
Whatever the truth may be, the C140 is a very beautiful car, manufactured from 1992 until 1999. There were various engines available over its lifetime. Base engine was a 4.2 liter V8, there was a 5.0 V8, an AMG 6.0 V12, an AMG 6.9 liter V12, and the brilliant AMG 7.3 liter V12.
What is under the bonnet here is sadly unknown, but double-twin pipes indicate it is indeed an AMG model. Just not the…
… 6.3 AMG😜.
The C140 was not sold in China, but some arrived via diplomatic channels or other misty ways. It is very rare here, and this was the first one I had ever seen on Chinese shores.
It even has an AMG engine-bade lookalike, on the rear.
