An ultra long Lincoln Town Car Royale stretched limousine, seen in the far west of Beijing on a sunny day. The limousine was available for rent, but it looked a bit neglected.
The limousine is based on the 1998-2002 variant of the third-generation Lincoln Town Car, powered by a 235 hp 4.6 liter V8. It is about 10 meters long. So long in fact that it has yellow license plates, normally reserved for commercial vehicles and buses. For the Chinese law, this enormous limousine is not a car, but a bus!
The limousine was manufactured by a company called Royale Limo, based in the great city of Haverhill, Massachusetts, United States. The company still exists, and they still do Lincolns, but mostly SUVs, and just a single sedan.
Our limo likely came to China in the early 2000’s. In those days many Chinese wedding companies shipped in second-hand American limousines for their booming businesses. Many are still around today.
