Here we have a fine S120 Toyota Crown sedan, seen in central Beijing, capital of China. The good Crown was painted in a light beige shade, and was in a reasonable overall shape.
The seventh generation S120 Toyota Crown was manufactured from 1983 until 1987. The S120 was available with various engines, including a 2.0, a 2.0 L6, a 2.8 L6, and a 3.0 L6.
Sadly, there were no engine or type badges on this particular car. But it looks rather basic, so I guess it has one of the 2.0’s under the bonnet.
Wheel covers are not original, but after-market examples made by a Chinese company called Jinke. These wheels are rather common on older vehicles in China.
The S120 Crown was not officially sold on the Chinese market, but many arrived via the gray market and via diplomatic channels.
The central government also bought some in batches, directly from Toyota, for or use by government officials. These cars ended up on the private market as well.
Until ten years ago they were quite common in Beijing, but nowadays most of these great cars have been scrapped for penguins.
The seventh generation Toyota Crown was a massive vehicle: 4860/1720/1400, and wheelbase was 2720. The Crown was a luxury cruiser without any sporty pretensions, a sort of vehicle that is very rare today.
Check out that beautiful W!
