Here we have the new Lynk & C0 03 sedan, the first car of Geely’s Lynk & Co brand after the 01 SUV and the 02 crossover. The brown car on the photos is the base version, powered by a 156 hp 1.5 turbo. I saw it at a Lynk & Co dealer. Wait… Dealer???
Wan’t Lynk & Co going to do away with dealers? Selling cars online, with subscription instead of a traditional buy? With staff collecting your car from home whenever something was wrong? With cool apps allowing you to share your car with others?
All this hasn’t happened yet, and it doesn’t seem it will happen soon. As for now, Lynk & Co sells in traditional dealers following the ancient model of selling a car for money. No subscription service has emerged, and they company has gone totally silent about the sharing apps.
Lesson learned: never believe what is being hyped. Didn’t Geely once said they were going to make Lynk & Co cars in Belgium? Ah. Delayed.
All Lynk & Co cars are based on the CMA platform, which also underpins the Volvo XC40. This platform is designed for SUVs and crossovers, hence the ungainly high nose of the Lynk & Co 03 sedan.
The Lynk & Co badge.
Very sweet looking matte allow wheels.
The Lynk & Co 03 is available with two engines: the 156 hp 1.5 turbo and a 180 hp 1.5 turbo. Fuzzily, these engines don’t have much in common. The former is developed by Geely, and is used in various Geely-branded cars. The latter is a Volvo-developed engine, used in the XC40 and in the Lynk & Co 01 and 02. Price of the 156 hp model starts at 116.800 yuan.
Lights are still beautiful, but I have kinda seen it, as they are the same as on the 01 and 02. A bit more differentiation might help.
The interior looks great, but the touch screen is really tilted a tad too much to the driver. Hoe can the passenger change the radio channel..?
Matte chrome bar runs from mirror to rear-window-bottom. The fuel cap door seems very large. The wheels seem a bit too small and narrow. It is not a pretty car, but Lynk & Co does have a good light unit designer:
These look great too!
The Chinese name of Lynk & Co is Lingke.
How tall that nose. How many horizontal lines. Two grilles..?
At the back of the building I then met the 180hp version, in black. It looks better me think. The bumper is totally different, doing away with the two grilles, and adding two giant fake air intakes on the sides. Better, but still not a beauty.
