Wuyi Mountain, aka Mt Wuyi, is the most famous peak of the Wuyi Mountain Range, a very popular local tourist destination in China. I happened to be there in 2004, and I saw some interesting vehicles.
This beauty is a BLAC airplane-ladder vehicle, with shiny wheel covers and racy stripes on the body, just behind the front wheel. A great looking airport truck! Airplane is a Boeing 737-300.
Airport staff taking it easy. Rightly so. It was an easy life back then.
The BLAC moving away.
Our transport to the village next to the mountain: A Changan-Suzuki Alto taxi.
When I saw it, I just needed to be in it.
On the road to the mountain, in the Alto taxi, overtaking a truck carrying bamboo poles. Probably my best action-photo ever.
Later on, in the village, I found a similar truck. Sadly, I didn’t take a pic of the badge, so unfortunately I am not sure what the brand is. In those days, there were many small factories making this kind of small trucks, often based on the same design. Truck behind it is a Dongfeng.
A wheel and a lever, what more does a truck need..?
In the village: a Geely pickup truck.
A pretty Hafei Baili HFJ7090.
LPG delivery, by bicycle.
Tricycle fruit stall.
A Guangzhou-Peugeot 505 sedan.
A Longma truck. These things are made for the mountains, with the motor almost in the middle, and with four-wheel drive. They stink like hell, but up that mountain they go, no matter with what, and no matter when.
A Fujian minibus. This is the basic way of intercity transportation in those areas, and in many other areas of China, even today. A small bus that can carry about 20 + bags + animals + farm produce + children, and whatnot more. Everything goes.
The incredible view. Boring, yez I know, we need more cars!
So we end with a calendar in a village restaurant showing a W210 Mercedes-Benz AMG E-class sedan.
