A very sweet 996 Porsche 911 Targa, seen in central Beijing. Incredible A·YC911 license plates are from Zhejiang province. The good 911 is wrapped in a semi-shiny orange wrap. The original color seems white, see bumper.

The 996 Porsche 911 was made from 1996 until 2004. It is very rare in China. It was only sold here in its last model year, 2004, in two variants: the Targa 3.6 and the Carrera S Coupe. The Targa was powered by a 3.6 liter flat-six, good for 320 hp and 370 Nm. Price was 1.54 million yuan, which in 2004 was an incredible lot of money. No wonder they are rare…
Note SCC badge on the left. SCC stood for Sportscar Club China, and in the mid-2000’s they were the most notorious car club in China, organizing all sorts of fancy no-matter-how-much supercar parties. In the late 2000’s the government wasn’t too happy with all this showing-off, and the club disappeared into obscurity.
