A very nice second-generation (XA20) Toyota RAV4 SUV, seen at night in east Beijing. The good Toyota looked great and had those incredible cool decals on the sides.
The XA20 5-door SUV was made from 2000 until 2005. It was the last RAV4 that was not also manufactured in China. Since it was imported from Japan prices were comparatively high and sales relatively slow.
VVT-i, or Variable Valve Timing with intelligence, is a variable valve timing technology developed by Toyota. They were proud of it, hence the badges above the side indicators.
Those are the decals I like! Blue waves with RAV4 script.
In China, the XV20 RAV4 was available with two gasoline engines: the 2.0 and the 2.4. Both were mated to either a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual. Price in China started at 189.800 yuan.
More waves on the spare wheel cover.
The second generation Toyota RAV4 is a rare sight on the roads these days, so whenever I see one I got to take pictures, even at night. And this particular car was just perfectly maintained.
RAV4 in a special font.
May she see the light of many days.
