A beautiful black Hongqi CA7221 L long-wheelbase limousine, seen in central Beijing in 2010. The Hongqi was in a fine shape, with the original hood ornament and the factory-standard alloys.
Hongqi CA7221 L was based on the standard Hongqi CA7220. The CA7220-series in turn was based on the Audi 100 that was made in China by the FAW-Volkswagen joint-venture. FAW (First Auto Works) is also the owner of the Hongqi (Red Flag) brand.
Wheelbase was extended with 23 centimeter to 2705 mm, with a total length of 5025mm. All the extra space went to the passengers in the back. There were no jump seats.
The Hongqi CA7221 L was made from 1993 until 1995. These short model cycles were very common at Hongqi, where they had the habit of launching improved variants, with a new designation, every few years.
Power came from a 130 hp Audi 2.2 liter 5-cilinder inline petrol engine, good for a 202 km/h top speed.
