RHD Nissan 180SX Drift Car Times Three And Some Other Nice Cars

Nissan 180SX

Here we have three (03) right-hand drive Nissan 180SX sporty cars, seen on the Golden Port race track in Beijing, capital of China, back in 2007. In China, folks drive on the right side of the road, so why did we we have these righties there?

A beautiful early Great Wall Safe, seen just behind the #1 Nissan.

The #02 Nissan, with an extra large front spoiler.

Back to the question at hand: Why? The answer: drifting. That’s a very popular sport in China and 99% of the drift cars I have seen in action in Beijing were imported from Japan and right-hand drive. In China, these fine cars are usually stripped-out and fitted with roll-cages and such, and their engines are tuned up to the absolute max.

Side note: as you can see there is a website address on these cars. The site still works, but there ain’t any cars to see anymore (NSFW).

Behind the #02 car there was a Haima HMC6470L station wagon. In very good shape. Sadly I was too occupied with the race cars at the time to pay it any more attention. In 2007, they weren’t very rare yet.

The #03 Nissan 180SX. The Nissan 180SX was a pretty 2-door fastback sports car  made from 1989 until 1999. Outside of Japan it was called the 200SX and in the U.S. it was called the 240SX. There were 3 engines available: a 173 hp 1.8 turbo, a 138 hp 2.0, and a 202 hp 2.0 turbo. Sadly I wasn’t able to establish what was under the bonnet here but count on quite a few heavily tuned horses more!

Behind the Nissan #03 stood a white Tainjin-Xiali TJ7100. Not as speedy as a Nissan 180SX drift car but almost as cool!

  1. These are all RHD. When you drive on the left side of the road like they do in Japan, the UK, etc. the cars have the steering wheel on the right and so are right hand drive.
Chinese cars (and US, Euro, etc. etc.) are LHD.

  2. Sadly I was too occupied with the race cars at the time to pay it any more attention. In 2007, they weren’t very rare yet.
