Three super fresh trees, seen on a classic-blue diesel-powered truck on a highway south of the Chinese capital in April 2011. Trucks carrying trees are a returning occurrence in spring in Beijing, when trees from plantations in the suburbs are brought into town for planting. Green city!
The plantations are not that far. In 2011, you could find ‘m even inside the Fifth Ring Road. Nowadays, most are outside the Sixth or even further away in the villages down countryside.
The trees are always carried in this way; on a truck way too small with branches touching the asphalt. This is an entry-way into Beijing, note the toll-booth in the background, with some of the city’s giant apartment towers further back.
A Beijing-registered vehicle. By law, trucks need to have their license plate number on the rear, in a big white font, alongside the license plate. The 3M reflective tape is mandatory too for all commercial vehicles.
Getting them trees to town! Truck is made by DFAC, a division of Dongfeng Motor.
