Before I bought my Beijing-Jeep Cherokee BJ7250 in 2004 I checked out several other vehicles, most of which were other Cherokees. It was my favorite. Most second-hand cars were sold in giant open-air markets.
It was there that I found this great Beijing-Jeep Cherokee, painted in factory purple and powered by the 4.0 liter six and with four-wheel drive. It had very old blue 京A license plates and it was modified with a slightly raised suspension, big wheels, and shiny alloys.
It even had a real rear windshield wiper! I made a test drive. Shops on the market only allowed test drives on the market area itself. That was quite large but I couldn’t go any faster than 40. I really liked it and it seemed to be in very good shape. In the end I didn’t buy it because I wanted a manual gearbox and this one had the automatic. Later on I got to drive a lot of other 4.0’s. They had a lot of grunt but were also much heavier than the 2.5, and they drunk fuel far faster than I can drink my beer. So I guess in the end I choose the right one.
