A Dusty Nissan Cedric Brougham VIP V6 In China

Nissan Cedric Brougham

A dusty Y31 Nissan Cedric, seen on the parking lot of my apartment complex in 2010. Apart from its dustiness, the big Nissan appeared to be in a very good shape, fitted with period old 京C license plates.

Production of the seventh generation Y31 Nissan Cedric started in 1987 and ended in 1991. The Brougham VIP V6 was the top-spec variant of the Y31 Cedric. Power came from a 3.0 V6 engine with 153 horsepower, mated to a five-speed manual, sending horses to the rear wheels.

An oval shaped VIP badge on the front fender, with a golden edge and a red background. Wheel covers are original with a small Nissan-script off-set of the middle.

Te Cedric badge, again on a red background. Note the incredible complexity of the door handle design!

From the days when a booth was still a booth. Antenna is very large.

The Nissan Cedric was not officially sold in China in period but quite a few examples made it to Chinese shores via other channels. The license plate area is too small for Chinese plates, so they used an external frame to fit it on.

Beautiful car, now for the water hose!
