Volkswagen New Beetle Is Matte Pink In China

A pretty Volkswagen New Beetle, seen in east Beijing in 2014. The jumpy Beetle was wrapped in a matte pink wrap, and further dressed up with a black Volkswagen badge, a black roof, dark-gray wheels, tinted windows, black mirrors, and cartoon-wrap side skirts.

The Volkswagen New Beetle was manufactured from 1998 until 2011. It was sold in China as an import and surprisingly successful, especially among female folk. Sales in China started in 2004 and ended in 2010. The convertible was available as well but that one is ultra rare.

The New Beetle was available with a 2.0 or a 1.8 turbo. There were no engine badges on this car, but looking at the alloys and bumpers this seems to be a 2.0 model, with 115 hp and 172 Nm. Price, in 2008, started at a steep 225.000 yuan.
