A very black second generation Lexus ES sedan, seen in the far east areas of the Chinese capital Beijing in 2014. The good Lexus sat under a thick layer of dust and dirt, and was missing the Lexus logo on the bonnet, but seemed otherwise in reasonable shape.
The second generation Lexus ES was based on the same platform that underpinned the Toyota Camry (XV10). It had a classic front-engine front-wheel-drive layout. Power came from a 2.5 or 3.0 liter V6, mated to a 4-speed automatic or a -speed manual.
The early Lexus ES was not officially sold in China, so seeing one on Chinese roads is a very rare pleasure.
