An orange and apparently brand new Lamborghini Gallardo, seen on the parking lot of my apartment complex in Beijing in 2011. It is a first generation car but it looked like new, with perfectly bright paint and shiny wheels. It also didn’t have a license plate, so it may have been a recent import fro elsewhere.
The first generation Lamborghini Gallardo was made from 2003 until 2008. Lamborghini started selling it in China in 2003, a time when only a very few could afford one. Price started at a steep 2.98 million yuan.
The Gallardo was powered by a 5.0 liter naturally aspirated V10 engine. Output was 500 hp and 510 Nm. Initially, Lamborghini only offered the 6-speed manual. Later on, they also offered the six-speed DCT.
Note the pretty red BMW in the background. That is a rare BMW E30 325i Sport M-Tech.
The mighty V10 engine was clearly visible under the glass ‘bonnet’.
From 2008 or so onward, the Gallardo became as common as an Audi A6. Over the years I have seen hundreds, and eventually I will show them all on this website.
