Here we have a yellow Geely GLeagle Panda, a car just as mellow as the panda bear. GLeagle was one of Geely’s many brands in the 2000’s, it has since disappeared. The Panda was designed to look like a panda. The headlights are the eyes, the GLeagle logo is the nose, and the grille is the beast’s beak.
The GLeagle Panda was a city car. It was designed by Chinese design firm CH Auto, a firm that still does lots of design work for many Chinese car maker. CH Auto also gave us he Aculeus and the Qiantu K50.
The Panda was made from 2009 until 2016 with a facelift in 2014. Our yellow car is an original pre-facelift example. GC313-RV is the designation, which tells us power comes from a 1.3 liter four-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 85 hp and 110 Nm. Gearbox was either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic. The Panda was also available with a 1.0 3-pot and a 1.5. Price of the 1.3 version started at 45.800 yuan in 2009.
The rear lights were designed to resemble the bottom of a panda’s claw. As panda’s lay indeed stretched out lazily on the ground for most of their lives, the bottom is instantly recognizable.
