A Dodge Ram 1500 Limited, seen in the beach town of Beidaihe in China in 2016. The gigantic American crew cab pickup truck looked almost too big for the city, covering an entire sidewalk.
The fourth generation Dodge Ram was made from 2010 until 2019, with several updates in between. Our white example is of the 2015 update, when it got a new grille with RAM-branding in the middle. The RAM 1500 was powered by a stonkin’5.7 liter Hemi V8 engine, good for an output of 395 hp and 553 Nm. The motor was mated to a 6-speed automatic, sending horses to all four wheels. Top speed was 200 kilometers per hour.
‘Limited’ was a trim level, it came with luxuries like leather seats, a shiny steering wheel, and a large square-shaped screen in the center stack. Note the Limited badge on the center arm rest.
Lots of chrome on this American beauty! The bumpers, pipe tips, RAM badge, side bars, alloys, and even the tow hook are shiny as a morning sun in a clear blue sky.
The fourth generation Dodge RAM-series was not officially sold in China but there was a lot of gray-market trade, where Chinese dealers bought the trucks directly from dealers and traders in the United States. As there was a lot of demand for these giant machines in China, prices were high. A base model of the 1500 Limited sold for about 650.000 yuan. Fortunately, petrol was, and still is, very cheap in China.
