A very fine Volvo S60 2.4 sedan, seen in Beijing in 2017. The old Swedish sled was in great shape for its age, with smooth paint, and without any visible rust or rot. The alloy wheels are original.
The interior looked great too, with beige leather and beige plastics. The seats look a little worn and the owner tried to protect them with a tiny fabric seat cover. That won’t work!
The first generation Volvo S60 was made from 2000 until 2009. Imports into China started in 2004 and lasted until 2009. Volvo only sold two models in China: the 170 hp version of the 2.4 and the speedy 300 hp 2.5R. The 2.4 was powered by a 2.4-liter five-cylinder petrol engine, good for 170 hp and 230 Nm. The only gearbox option in China was the 5-speed automatic.
As the S60 was imported it was quite expensive. The price of the 2.4 model charted at 599.000 yuan, which was far too much, and the market thought the same. The first generation Volvo S60 is therefore a very rare Swedish sedan in China, but most we see are fortunately in good shape.
