A jolie Peugeot 406 sedan, seen in Beijing back in 2015. The French sedan was in a great shape, painted in a deep shade of blue and fitted with the original multispoke alloy wheels.
The interior was equally pretty and totally original. The luxurious beige leather seats are slightly worn out. The black plastics of the dashboard aren’t too shiny and the radio-CD-cassette system is in a fine shape.
The Peugeot 406 was made from 1995 until 2004 with a facelift in 1999. Our blue car is a post-facelift example. The 406 was officially sold in China as an import from 2000 until 2005. It was marketed as a comfortable car, with Peugeot lauding the soft suspension, the quiet cabin, and the 8-way electric seat adjustment, which was more than competitors could offer at the time.
In China, the Peugeot 406 was available with a 2.0 petrol engine with 135 hp and 190 Nm, and with a 3.0 V6 with 207 hp and 258 Nm. Both engines were mated to a four-speed automatic transmission, sending horses to the front wheels. However, the 3.0 model was sold only for a few years and it was extremely expensive compared the 2.0, so sales were near-nil and I have never ever seen one on the road.
Price of the 2.0 started at 300.000 yuan and ended at 338.000 yuan. The 3.0? … 540.000 yuan! The V6 model had different wheels , so our car is most likely a 2.0 model, but I can’t be 100% sure because there were no engine badges anywhere on the vehicle. Peugeot never sold a lot of the 406 in any way so these are quite rare with any engine under the bonnet.
