A BMW 728iL sedan, seen in Beijing back in 2010. The big Bimmer was in a great shape and wrapped in a tasty smurf blue wrap. An unusual choice of color for a big BMW but the result is pretty good.
The white detailing on the mirrors, air vents, and door handles is a nice idea as well. The wrapper did a great job, it looks neat and tight, almost as if it was painted in smurf blue. The beige leather interior is a good contrast with the blue exterior.
The E36 BMW 7-Series was made from 1994 until 2001. It wasn’t officially sold in China, with a BMW dealer network ans such, but there was a lot of semi-official import, where traders bought cars in bulk and shipped them to China, with some backing by BMW.
The 728iL model was powered by a 2.8 liter inline-6 engine with an output of 190 hp and 280 Nm. The engine was mated to a 5-speed automatic. The L stands for ‘lang‘, that’s long in German, which in turn stands for the long-wheelbase version (3070 mm).
These days the E36 is fast becoming a rare sight on the roads in China, due to age and environmental regulations, and there weren’t that many of these great German sedans in China to begin with.
