A fully dressed Audi A8 3.0 TFSI quattro, seen at Volkswagen’s China headquarters in Beijing’s Sanlitun District in 2011. At the time, the Audi A8L was a new model in China and this example served as a brilliant showroom stopper.
It was painted in a very pretty shade of brown brown-gold, and fitted with the largest tires the arched could handle. The alloys were definitely not factory-standard but I didn’t see any manufacturer’s name on it. They certainly looked great, giving the big limousine an almost sporty stance.
The interior was loaded with beige leather, dark brown wood, and television screens for the lucky occupants of the rear seats.
It also seemed to be lowered a little, but I am not entirely sure.
The third-generation D4 Audi A8L had its actual world debut on the 2010 Beijing Auto Show, Audi expected China to become one of the largest markets worldwide for the long limousine.
Initially, Audi only sold the A8L 3.0 TFSI quattro model in China. Later on, the V8 and W12 models were added to the lineup. Price for the A8L 3.0 TFSI started at 1.36 million yuan (2011). Power came from a 3.0 liter twin-turbo V6 engine with an output of 290 hp / 420 Nm or 333 hp / 440 Nm. Gearbox was an 8-speed automatic.
A great looking A8L. Too bad Audi didn’t really sell ‘m like this.
