A pretty Porsche 911 Targa 4, seen in de Lido area in Beijing in 2015, with Eudora Station, one of my favorite outdoor bars, in the background. The speedy Porsche looked brilliant in silver gray with darkened windows, a black roof, gray wheels, and a dark orange brown interior.
The 997 Porsche 911 was made from 2004 until 2014 with a facelift in 2009. Our silver car is a pre-facelift example. The Targa was fitted with an ingenious glass roof system. When the roof opens, it drops down and then slides to the back where it is stored underneath the rear window.
The Targa 4 was powered by a 3.6 liter H6 with an output of 325 hp and 370 Nm, good for a 0-100 in 5.0 seconds and a 285 km/h top speed. The motor was mated to a six-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic, sending horses to all wheels. Price in China started at a steep 1.6 million yuan. The 997 911 Targa is pretty rare in China compared to the coupe, but the Cabriolet is rarer still.
It was a bit of a Porsche day that day at Lido. On the same day I also saw a 997 Carrera 4 and a 991 Carrera Cabriolet.
