A super cool Mercedes-Benz E280 sedan, seen on a car market in the Chinese capital Beijing. The great Benz had an AMG body kit, AMG wheels, and an old blue 京A license plate. It was in a reasonable shape for its years, dusty with some busts, painted in a nice and shiny silver shade.
It seemed that the suspension was lowered a little bit as well for the sake of sporty looks. The darkened windows made for a nice contrast to the silver body.
The interior was in an okay condition, with gray leather seats and wood decorations. It has white dials that likely came with the AMG package. The infotainment system with CD/DVD player was quite advanced for its time.
The W210 Mercedes-Benz E-Class was manufactured from 1995 until 2003 with a facelift in 2000. Our ‘AMG’ is a post-facelift car. The W210 was not officially sold in China but quite some cars arrived via the gray market and diplomatic channels, and the Chinese government also bought several large batches for official duties.
The E280 model was powered by a 2.8 liter inline-6 petrol engine, good for 190 hp and 270 Nm. The motor was mated to a 5-speed automatic gearbox, sending horses to the rear wheels.
Blue 京A license plates are old and very rare. They were issued to the first privately registered cars in Beijing, as opposed to cars registered to companies or the government. Blue 京A plates should not be confused with black 京A license plates. , which were issued to foreign-owned companies.
A beautiful Mercedes-Benz in Beijing, with a sporty AMG kit that works very well indeed.
