A wondrous white Subaru Impreza sedan, seen at a parking lot at the Goldenport race track in northeast Beijing in the early spring of 2016. The Subaru was covered in dust and missed 3 of its wheel covers, but overall it was in a reasonable shape.
The interior was largely original with the funky seats typical for the area. The Snoopy seat cover and the radio are after market accessories.
The first generation Subaru Impreza was made from 1992 until 2000. The GL was the second-most basic trim level, powered by a 2.0 liter boxer engine, a five-speed manual gearbox, and four-wheel drive. Output was 125 hp, good for a 191 km/h top speed and a 0-100 in 9.4 seconds.
The first generation Subaru Impreza was not officially sold in China but quite a few cars arrived via the gray market. However, most of those were the high performance WRX and WRX STi models. A base Impreza GL is ultra rare here, and this white one was actually the first GL I ever saw in China.
Sadly, the fact that this Impreza stood where it stood probably meant it was destined to be turned into track-day toy for on the race track.
Parked next to the old Subaru was a newer Mitsubishi Lancer EVO, more on that car in a later post.
