A classy Land Rover Freelander V6, seen in the spring of 2016 in China. The rough Rover was in a great shape, painted in gold with black trim, and fitted with the original factory standard 3-double spoke alloy wheels.
The first generation Land Rover Freelander was made from 1997 until 2006 with a facelift in 2004. Our gold car is a post-facelift example. The Freelander V6 model was powered by a 2.5 liter Rover KV6 engine, good for an output of 175 hp and 240 Nm. The motor was mated to a 5-speed automatic, sending horses to all four wheels. Top speed was 182 km/h and 0-100 was gone in 11.1 seconds.
The interior was in a fine condition as well, with nice leather seats and a bulky dashboard. The center stack is a bit odd, with the main functionalities sitting very low. Note especially the dials for the air conditioning, located just in front of the gearmlever.
The roof over the rear compartment was raised for more space inside. The sturdy roof rails and black-plastic wheel arches were factory standard.
The first generation Land Rover Freelander was officially sold in China, starting in 2004 with the facelifted version. Only engine available was the 2.5 V6. Price in 2004 started at 458.000 yuan, which was steep for the time and this Land Rover is therefore pretty rare.
I just love the design of the third brake light, popping up above the spare wheel, oval shaped, with the Land Rover brand name printed in the plastic cover. Very cool.
