Sixth generation Mitsubishi Galant VX Is A Rare Japanese Sedan In China

A sixth generation Mitsubishi Galant sedan, seen in the great city of Hohhot, capital of Inner Mongolia, by Friend of the Site Fa1rrhaven Zhou, thank you for the photos! The good Galant was in a reasonable shape but appeared to be abandoned.

The sixth generation Mitsubishi Galant was made from 1987 until 1994 with a facelift in 1991. Our Hohhot car is a post-facelift example. The sixth generation Galant came in three kinds: sedan, hardtop sedan, and hatchback. In North America it was sold under the Dodge 2000 GTX and Eagle 2000 GTX names. In Japan, it was called the Mitsubishi Eterna.

The factory-standard yellow Galant window sticker on the third-side window. Note the cool Asahi stamp in the glass. Asahi, nowadays called AGC, is one of the world’s largest automotive glass companies.

The Inner Mongolia license plate is as old as the car.

The Galant was available with various four-cylinder petrol engines and one turbo diesel. The VX trim level model was powered by a 2.0 liter ‘6A12’ petrol unit, good for 168 hp and 186 Nm. Power went to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The sixth generation Mitsubishi Galant was not officially sold in China but some examples arrived via diplomatic and other more misty channels. The Galant sedan is therefore very rare in China. Too bad this one seems forgotten.
