If all Porsches were as pretty as this one! Here we have a Porsche Cayenne SUV in China, seen in Beijing in 2014. The good Porsche is seriously prettified with a shiny purple wrap, black alloys wheels, a body kit, and darkened windows.
At the back we find a custom quad-pipe exhaust system, darkened light visors, and an extra-large window spoiler. The wrap was of high quality and neatly covered the door handles and mirrors. The window frame was chromed and the A and B pillars black. A nice combination of colors. In the background stands a cool white Porsche Panamera.
I met both cars on a parking lot at the Solana Mall in east-central Beijing. This was always a great place to see some interesting cars. And to go to a restaurant. And to drink loads of beer. And to buy trousers, if you are in to that.
The Porsche Panamera was modified too, with a special white paint and matching alloy wheels and yellow brake calipers. Only the rear windows were tinted a little bit, but the front windows were clear. This was, and is, highly unusual for a car in this segment in China.
The white theme was applied to the whole body, including the bumper section and mirrors. Like on the Cayenne, the window frame was chromed and the pillars black. Perhaps both cars belonged to the same owner. The Panamera also had a flashy bling license plate frame.
In 2014, the Cayenne and Panamera were selling like hot noodles. They were both available with the entire range of petrol engines. Price of the Cayenne started at 972.000 yuan and the Panamera at 1.14 million yuan. The various modifications likely added at least 100.000 to each car.
