A Changan CS95 SUV, seen parked outside a Changan dealer in Beijing in April 2017. The CS95 came with an impressive front, loaded with bling on the grille, around the headlights, and with some more on the fake air vents in the hood.
I love nothing more than cool turbo badges, and this surely is one.
The Changan CS95 hit the Chinese car market in early 2017, so it was just recently launched when I saw it. Oddly, just one year later the CS95 received a facelift, and it got an even bigger grille. The early facelift was necessary because in 2017-18 Changan was in the midst of a design-language overhaul for the entire brand, so the CS95 looked dated after just a year. Poor timing indeed, but it does make the pre-facelift CS95 a very rare car!
This pretty black example still has the factory wheel-protection. The car was also very dusty, covered with a thick layer of Beijing dust. What a lazy dealer, letting a brand new car get so dirty right next to your shop.
Interiors of Chinese SUVs in this segment are always quite nice. The Changan CS95 has nice leather seats, piano black panels, and a center stack with a classy dark gray frame.
The 2017 Changan CS95 was powered by a 2.0 turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine with an output of 233 hp and 360 Nm. The motor was mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. The base version (pictured) had front-wheel drive, the high-end car had four-wheel drive.
The CS95 was a big car, measuring nearly five meters in length with a 2.8 meter wheelbase. It seated seven with a 2+3+2 seating setup.
The badge with a red S. ‘360’ refers to the torque number and the T to the turbo.
