A Jaguar XF Sportbrake, seen in China in 2017, with the front bumper scraping the side walk. The Jag’ looked otherwise great, painted in a light blue shade and further dressed up with darkened windows and a roof rack. The 7-speed alloy wheels were factory standard, and in dire need of some cleaning. The Jaguar XF Sportbrake was the wagon version of the first generation Jaguar XF (X250), made from 2007 until 2015.
I always liked the looks of the Sportbrake, a very clean and uncluttered design. The sides and rear are almost as smooth as silk. The light units at the back are a tad too large but that was the trend at the time.
The X250 Jaguar XF was imported into China in sedan and wagon form. Wagons have never been particularly popular in China but some car brands tried to sell them anyway. Sadly, but totally predictable, sales of the Sportbrake were very low and these pretty wagons are a rare sight on the road.
In China, the Jaguar XF Sportbrake was available with just one engine: a 2.0 turbo with 240 hp and 340 Nm, mated to an 8-speed automatic. Price started at 578.000 yuan, which was a lot of money for a car of this kind, size, and brand. The next generation XF sedan (X260) was made locally at Chery-JLR, but only in the XFL extended-wheelbase form. Jaguar continued to offer imported Sportbrake versions until 2021.
