A pretty Fiat Croma, seen in Beijing in 2013. The Italian liftback was in a great shape, painted in silver with darkened windows and standard factory wheels.
The first generation Fiat Croma (Type 154) was made from 1985 until 1996 with facelifts in 1988 and 1991. Our silver car is a post-second facelift example. The Croma was designed by Italdesign and shared its ‘Type Four‘ platform with the Lancia Thema, Alfa Romeo 164, and the Saab 9000.
The Croma was available with various gasoline and diesel engines. The car that I met was powered by the 2.0 liter 16 V motor, good for 135 hp and 180 Nm. Top speed was 200 km/h and 0-100 took 10.1 seconds. The engine was mated to a 5-speed manual, sending all horses to the front wheels.
The lines are very clean and the 5-door liftback body even makes it look slightly sporty. In front of the car my electric Luyuan scooter, with a 50 km/h top speed and a range of about 60 kilometers.
‘Fiat’ came in four separate letters, demanding a very precise factory worker.
A great car in a great shape, let’s hope it is still around somewhere.
