A Nissan Sunny sedan, seen in 2011 in the great city of Nanjing in China. The Sunny looked great in red with darkened windows. The grille and door handles are nice and shiny, and the factory wheels look sporty.
The Sunny name has been used for a wide variety of vehicles. The one we have here is the Nissan Sunny N17, also called Almera, Latio, Versa, V-Drive, and Renault Scala.
The Chinese version of the Nissan Sunny N17 was produced from 2011 until 2016 by the Dongfeng-Nissan joint venture. So when I saw the Sunny it was brand new, hence the lack of license plates.
Chinese name was Yángguāng (阳光), or Sunlight. The only engine available was a 1.5 liter gasoline unit with 112 hp and 139 Nm. Transmission was a 5-speed manual or a CVT. Price in 2011 started at 82.800 yuan.
The Nissan Sunny was quite popular for a while and I always liked how it looked; way more streamlined and thus modern than the competition. Too bad about those tiny wheels! Anyway. Even today there are a lot of these Nissan Sunny’s around on the road.
