A Range Rover SUV, seen from quite afar in the Chinese capital Beijing in the summer of 2018. The Range Rover was wrapped in a pink wrap, but not completely. It surely looked like nothing else on the road, that day.
The entire roof was made in black. The A pillar was pink and the other pillars black. The mirrors were half black and the door handles and the air vents on the front fenders were black too. Somebody did some designing there. The alloy wheels were standard examples.
The windows were darkened with different degrees. The front windows were only moderately darkened, and even at distance I could see that the driver was a man. The windows for the second row were darkened a bit more but one could still see inside. The rear-side windows, however, were darkened even deeper.
The big pink Range Rover appeared to be on its way to a ‘Beijing Community Health Service’, a network of small health clinics in residential areas. It was a hot day, note he office-worker fellows waiting for the traffic light on the left. They look like they are steaming. Or perhaps they just got very exited seeing a pink Range Rover coming around. I sure did!
The third generation Land Rover Range Rover was officially sold in China from 2005 until 2012. It was available with the supercharged 5.0 V8, the 5.0 V8, and with the 3.6 liter V8 turbo diesel. The latter was remarkable as diesel-powered passenger cars were, and still are, forbidden in most Chinese cities. The diesel cars were mainly sold to companies operating in the interior. Pricing in 2012 started at 1.72 million yuan. A wrap of this quality and complexity cost at least 50.000 more.
