A Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2, seen in front of a hotel in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu province in China in 2011. The good Gallardo seemed to be brand new. It was painted white with a black-white interior. It didn’t even have license plates yet.
The hotel was a classy affair with shiploads of marble and chandeliers. I was fortunate enough to stay there for 3 days on business. When I saw the Lamborghini I felt at home immediately.
The Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2 was launched in China in 2010. It was an expensive car with a base price of 3.48 million yuan. They were quite rare, especially in 2011. The LP 550-2 was a rear-wheel drive version of the Gallardo. Power came from a 5.2 liter naturally aspirated V10 engine with an output of 557 hp and 540 Nm. The engine was mated to a six-speed automated manual transmission.
The 19-inch tires are fitted with the standard five-twin spoke gray alloy wheels. Top speed was 320 kilometers per hour and 0-100 was done in 3.9 seconds. The Lamborgini was a thirsty car, drinking 15 liters of gasoline for every 100 kilometers it drove.
The traffic cone warned guests and other fellows to stay clear of the expensive supercar. At any upscale hotel or restaurant in China, staff will always put these kinds of cones in front of expensive cars. The Gallardo is parked next to a black Shanghai-GM Buick Regal sedan.
