A Porsche 911 sports car, seen alongside the Liangmahe river in central Beijing in the winter of 2009. The Porsche was painted in dark blue, at least I think it was because the color was basically invisible because of the dust. It also had a cool matching license plate with the sequence 京C·K1911.
Yeah! Most cars look better when dusty. The 911 surely does. It was road dust, gathered by driving. Not dead dust, gathered by not-moving. Most dust was on the rear fender and on the rear wheel. Beijing was always dusty in winter in those days, so that partially explains some of the stuff. But even so, you can’t get this much on your car without making a long ride.
The Porsche 997 911 was made from 2004 until 2013 with an update in 2009. Our dusty car is an updated example. The Carrera model had a 3.6 liter naturally aspirated H6 engine, with an output of 345 hp and 390 Nm. The transmission was a 7-speed DCT, sending power to the rear wheels. The top speed was 287 kilometers per hour and 0-100 was gone in 4.7 seconds. The price in China was a steep 1.42 million RMB.
In front of the 911 was a Dongfeng-PSA Citroen C-Quatre hatchback with embassy license plates. The first three digits form a country code. In this case 112, which stands for the embassy of Belgium.
