A Changan Shenqi F30 pickup truck, as seen in Beijing in 2018. The truck was in good shape, painted white, and fitted with the optional five-spoke alloy wheels. Pickup trucks are relatively rare in Beijing, so whenever I see one I immediately pic it.
The Changan Shenqi F30 was manufactured from 2016 until 2019. Changan Auto used to sell its pickup trucks under the Changan brand. But in 2019, the company launched a new commercial-vehicle sub-brand called Kaicene. The Changan Shengqi F30 was then succeeded by the Kaicene F300.
The Shengqi F30 is a nice-looking machine. It is a double-cab five-seat truck with a standard short bed. Changan also sold a long-bed variant. This particular car is of the top-spec ‘Luxury’ trim level. It got five-spoke wheels, mud flaps, and a sport bar in the bed. The owner added window film for some extra privacy.
The interior looked rather worn out. The owner added seat covers, a steering wheel cover, a phone holder, and an after-market infotainment system with a decently-sized screen.
The rear bench is under cover too. The owner’s kids apparently forgot their toys.
Power: a 1.5 liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 112 hp and 142 Nm. The transmission was a 5-speed manual, sending horses to the rear wheels. Size: 4980/1720/1700, with a 3025 wheelbase and a 1350 kg curb weight. The bed’s size was 1500/1415/480. The max load capacity was 495 kilos.
Characters: 长安汽车, Cháng’ān Qìchē, Changan Auto.
And here we have: 神骐 F30, Shénqí F30.
A shiny grille and a skid plate under the bumper. Back in 2018, the Shenqi F30 Luxury with a short bed sold for only 58.200 yuan, which was very cheap. The base model was cheaper still: just 47.600 yuan. I haven’t seen many of these in Beijing but they are everywhere in smaller cities and the countryside.
