This is a Leap C11, a cool Chinese full-electric SUV, I saw it in Beijing this summer on a hot and rainy day. The C11 is an aerodynamic car with a drag coefficient of just 0.282 Cd. The more slippery the car is, the longer the range.
The five-seat Leap C11 is manufactured by Leap Motor, a new Chinese new-energy vehicle (NEV) maker based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. The company was founded in 2015 and started selling cars in 2019. Leap Motor sells 3 cars at the moment: the C01 sedan, the T03 hatchback, and the C11 SUV. Soon, the company will launch the Leap C10 3-row SUV.
The cabins of these new Chinese car makers are always airy, with light color schemes and large windows. The dash is super clean without any button or switch in sight. It has 3 screens: a 10.25-inch instrument panel, a 12.8-inch central screen, and another 10.25-inch screen for the front passenger. The steering wheel is perfectly round, with two spokes. Round steering wheels are almost a rarity in China. Most car makers go for oval, square, flat bottom, or (half) yokes these days.
The Leap C11 is a pretty car, clearly designed to slide through the air as smoothly as possible, but it is still a nice-looking machine. It has a subtle spoiler above the rear window and aero wheel covers. Leap Motor sells RWD and AWD versions of the C11. The dual-motor AWD is a sports version with extra bodywork and racy wheels. What we have here is the way more common RWD version. It has a single motor, good for 272 hp and 360 Nm. Top speed is limited to 170 km/h and 0-100 takes 7.9 seconds.
Electricity is stored in a 69.2 kWh LFP battery, with a CLTC range of 502 kilometers. Leap Motor also sells an EREV version of the C11, which combines a 1.5 turbo with the same electric motor.
Characters: 零跑, Língpǎo, Leap. The name of the company is 零跑汽车Língpǎo Qìchē, Leap Motor.
This tw0tone color combination is called Walden Green/Metallic Black. I think it looks great on the C11, and the green almost matches with the green new-energy license plate, issued by the Beijing Municipality. All NEVs have a license plate like this one. ‘NEV’ is a Chinese vehicle category, with EVs, PHEVs (including EREVs), and FCEVs. I also met the dual motor version of the C11, more on that monster in a later post!
