It has been a while, but here we go with Part 9 of Black License Plate Mania in Beijing. In the first photo a Mercedes-Benz ML 430 with 京A·23893, as seen in a local maintenance shop, with the hood open.
This is a real beauty! A first-generation Lexus RX300 with 京A·28997. I met it
A dusty Dongfeng-Nissan Sylphy Bluebird with 京A·32800.
A Dongfeng-Honda CR-V SUV with 京A·39292.
More Honda! This silver MPV is a Guangzhou-Honda Odyssey with 京A·23401. The Odysee used to be one of the most popular MPVs in the Chinese car market, with sales numbering just below the…
… Buick GL8. This is a 2009-2005 SAIC-GM Buick GL8 with license plate number 京A·326022.
There is no Black License Mania article without at least one Jeep Cherokee XJ. This is a rare imported Cherokee Laredo, I met it back in 2016. I will post more pictures of this car in a later post if I ever have enough time. The plate is 京A·21104.
A heavily modified Land Rover Discovery V8 with 京A·35938. I saw it at an off-road shop in a car market in east Beijing. The market is still alive but the shop is long gone. The Discovery was a crazy creation, with the wheels wide out of the body. It had been used in anger, check all that mud on the side!
Another Guangzhou-Honda Odyssey, this one in white, with the rather special sequence 京A·22727.
This one is black-license-plate royalty! A super early one; a Mercedes-Benz W202 C-Class sedan with 京A·00695, so that’s a very early black-license plate car.
We end this post with a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I saw it while I was in a taxi, in a flash, so I am not sure if this was a locally-made car or an imported car. But no matter that, it looked great with after-market five-spoke alloys and a very big tow hook. The number is 京A·19661.
More black license plates soon!
