Here we have an Audi A4 Cabriolet 3.0, seen in the northeast of the Chinese capital Beijing. The drop-top Audi was in good shape, with a clean body and no signs of rust or rot. It was painted in a light shade of blue with a black convertible roof. And now a special word of welcome for a new fan of our website: 你好, 查总话交通!
The B6 Audi A4 Cabriolet was manufactured from 2002 until 2006. It was a two-door 2+2 soft top. The blue Beijing car is fitted with sporty five-spoke Vossen wheels, or copies thereof, and with darkened windows.
The interior was well preserved, and the red leather was a factory color. The red steering wheel cover, however, seems to be an after-market extra. The wood panels still look great.
I remember this stuff very well: a locally-made mixed drink with whiskey and cola. The alcohol percentage wasn’t very high, like 8%, but it was loaded with sugar and the quality was pretty bad. Hangover guaranteed!
The A4 Cabriolet was available with various petrol and diesel engines. The A4 3.0 was powered by a 30v 3.0-liter V6 engine with an output of 220 hp and 300 Nm. The motor was mated to a five-speed automatic gearbox, sending all horses to the front wheels.
The B6 Audi A4 Cabriolet was not officially marketed in China, so parts for the roof mechanism will be hard to get. The B6 Audi A4 sedan was made in China, so mechanical parts are relatively easy to find.
How this car arrived on Chinese shores is not exactly clear, but the license plate area points to a gray import. The license plate area is too narrow for a Chinese plate, so this Audi was likely originally delivered in North America.
Let’s hope this cool Audi stays around in Beijing for a while. The city area may be a tad too noisy for open-top driving, but up in the mountains to the north of town, an Audi Cabriolet must be a blast!
